    VE Day in London by Picture Post

    This year marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day, so ofstory ‘This Was VE Day in London'. In the capital, crowds gathered all the way up the Mall to Buckingham Palace, where King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, accompanied by Prime Minister Winston Churchill, appeared on the balcony of the palace. Both Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret were allowed to wander incognito among the crowds to take part in the celebrations.
