GATE WAY Action plans for survival are well advanced for clubs following the coronavirus crisis. A prime example is Harrogate, who were promoted from North Premier to National Two North on the RFU’s ‘best playing record formula’ after a shortened season. A year away from their 150th anniversary, ‘Gate are facing their greatest challenge of lost revenue and its impact on cash flow.

Chairman Iain Salkeld said: “Our scheme looks at three key areas: revenue generation, our staff and how to protect their roles, and how to deal with our creditors/suppliers/sponsors.”

Harrogate are asking members to pay their 2020-21 membership now and reopening the life membership option at £2,500, alongside other offers, some to commercial sponsors. The club has asked for donations and has pledged to pay salaried, full-time staff their entire wages for as long as possible.
