Christian Selmoni is keen to emphasise the influence that women have on Vacheron Constantin. “The feminine watches in our archives are incredibly important,” the brand’s Style and Heritage Director stresses. “They are proof of our links with women going back more than 200 years. The oldest piece in the collection is from 1812 and interestingly it features a complication – a quarter repeater. But these watches are more than a symbol of Vacheron Constantin’s past. They actually document the development of women’s watches in terms of aesthetic and technical achievement, which in turn speaks volumes about the changing role of women in society.”
