ine art photographer Anouk Krantz grew up in France with a view of the American cowboy as, 264 pages that celebrate the enduring spirit of the American cowboy—who, she learned, can be male or female and of any age. “There are so many of them,” she says. “And once you start to spend time with them, you realize how passionate they are about their way of life.” Krantz’s many stops included the weekly rodeo in Durango. But, she chooses to protect the anonymity of her subjects, like this “American Wrangler.” “Throughout the book are a lot of pictures taken from the back, where you really cannot see the faces,” she says. “I’m trying to unify people rather than glorify a name or brand.”
