Welcome!
Just one of the many lovely things about having small children in your life is rediscovering the joy of kids’ books. Like his mum and her mum (aka Yia Yia), I have, by Craig Smith (no relation). Like millions of others around the world, I’d seen the hilarious YouTube video of Scottish granny Janice Clark reading it to her baby grandson (it’s easily googled). I hadn’t yet seen it in the shops. But a few months ago, I spotted a pile of kids’ books a neighbour had left out, along with a note inviting people to help themselves. One of them was a very well-thumbed copy of . I now know the words to the book almost by heart and it is still fun reading it over Zoom or on FaceTime to Harley, who loves it (almost!) as much as I do. One of my favourite books as a kid was Dr Seuss’ . I still have my battered and much-loved copy and I’m hoping my grandkids enjoy it just as much as I did - and still do! So it was great to hear this week from tl! reader, Catherine (Page 22), about how reading in bed in the morning with her grandkids is a special treat for them all. And the books they love are those loved by her three sons, all now grown up. From her pic, it looks like Doctor Dolittle is a favourite. I’d love to hear about favourite kids’ books!
