Alan Merrill

February 19, 1951 – March 29, 2020

Joan Jett has expressed “deep gratitude and sadness” following the death of the New Yorker who wrote I Love, the song that became the biggest hit for both of them. During the mid-70s Merrill was a member of The Arrows, who first recorded the song. Jett’s remake topped the US singles chart for seven weeks in 1982. Merill, 69, died after contracting Covid-19.
