ith the original Doom gracing the cover this month, I thought I’d. The inaccurately-named , missing and , proves that sometimes you have to skip the burgeoning 3D phase and go back further to truly enjoy old games. Once you figure out the deranged controls (you have to press to fire your laser!) it’s surprisingly fun. The low-key metroidvania vibes feel modern, and there’s a joyfulness that’s hard not like, especially in light of everything the dev team did next. Enjoy it untainted before the gritty reboot.
