FORD’S ‘FAB’ FALCON AT 60
Oct. 8, 1959, was a monumental day in the history for Ford Motor Co. That day, the boys from Dearborn brought a totally new car to market. New name, new technologies, new style and a new size all marked Ford’s first American-built compact. Noticeably smaller than the all-new, full-size 1960 Ford Fairlane and Galaxie, the new compact Falcon’s appearance did incorporate several traditional Ford styling elements. The Falcon carried simple yet distinctive front-end styling and a simple, functional rear-end design that used Ford’s trademark circular taillamps.
