Checker Memories

It was a crispy, extremely bright, quite perfect fall day on Sept. 10, 1965. Although very sunny, the air predicted a typical New England winter was approaching. But for now, the cloudless sky was a blanket of bright blue and the fresh air made me glad to be alive. Even now, 40 years later, I remember that day as if it was yesterday and it brings back those fond memories every time I am driving with the windows down on similar crisp, fall days in September and October.
