THE RHS Gardening Advice website received more than one million visits from March 24 to April 1, the official first nine days of lockdown, an increase of almost 500% over the same period last year. It seems that the current advice to stay at home is encouraging more people than ever to invest both time and money in their gardens (myself included, who knew roses could be so sharp?), with record numbers of online visitors researching composting, sowing seeds and perennials.
