N this day, TV gardener Christine Walkden was born in Rishton, Lancashire. Best known today for her, she trained at the Lancashire College of Agriculture (now Myerscough College), and worked in the seed physiology unit at Wakehurst Place in West Sussex (a branch of Kew Gardens). In 2007, after becoming a freelance lecturer and writer, she was chosen to host her own TV series, . She has written regular columns for , and is a regular panellist on Radio 4’s . In 2014, she presented , where she viewed various large gardens around Britain from a hot-air balloon, and then visited them on the ground.
