Not Your Mom’s Cleavers

You may have noticed an emerging trend in the sporting knife industry: fixed-blade cleavers, which have been increasing in numbers for at least a couple of years now, are being joined by those of the folding variety.

A large kitchen knife, the classic cleaver is reserved for heavy-duty use chopping meats and some vegetables. It is sort of the axe of the kitchen, though in recent years it is being offered and seeing use as a cutting/chopping tool for a wide range of outdoor and other needs as well.
