YATES’ RALLY CAREER TO DATE

Enters his first rallies in a Group N-spec Suzuki Swift Sport, beginning at Cadwell Park and then the Cambrian Rally in 2013. Switches to a Ford Fiesta R2 the following year and takes secondFirst full assault in a rally car. Completes a full BTRDA campaign and wins B10 class in a Ford Fiesta R2 with Phil Hall and Tom Woodburn sharing co-driving duties. Gets behind the wheel of a Fiesta R5 for the Cambrian, Malton Forest and Rockingham Stages with a fourth overall on the Malton the best result. Also becomes English Rally champion. Steps up to the British Rally Championship with Woodburn in the Fiesta R5 and learns the ropes. Keeps his hand in with a few BTRDA rounds and takes a first four-wheel-drive podium on the Red Kite Stages. Later in the year, he secures his first ever-win at Rockingham. Yates also enters his first ever WRC event, Wales Rally GB. Back for a second BRC season in a Fiesta and nets his first BRC podium on the Nicky Grist Stages, keeping Marty McCormack at bay. Greater consistency and fewer accidents vault him from 10th to fourth in the championship. Heads abroad for the first time for Ypres Rally, WRC Catalunya and the Monza Rally Show. Trades in Fiesta for Skoda Fabia R5 and becomes a serious BRC contender. Beats defending champion Keith Cronin to second on Pirelli and is in hunt for victory in Ypres before co-driver Elliott Edmondson falls ill. Heads to ERC for Junior U28 championship and immediately takes a podium on the Azores. Wins his first international rally, Rally van Wervik in Belgium, becoming the first Brit to do so.
