Counting Cars
Danny ‘The Count’ Koker runs Vegas-based Count’s Kustoms building and occasionally restoring customers’ cars. It’s entertaining to watch his talented team – clearly all enthusiasts – customise virtually any car, van or motorcycle. Every build is highly detailed and usually extremely tasteful – some take more than a year to complete. More interest comes when the guys head to the streets and on to driveways in search of fresh vehicles. Later seasons focus more on the characters in the team and less on the builds, but this is still a fun show that’s refreshingly free of the fake drama and self-imposed deadlines that blight so many of the others listed here. Avoid the watered-down half-hour episodes in favour of the full hour-long versions though.
Misfit Garage
A team of guys fired from Gas Monkey begin a car building business called Fired Up Garage. Part of the fun comes from their run-ins with Gas Monkey, as everyone tries to find the cheap local classic cars first. Most of their builds are classic muscle cars. There’s a tongue-in-cheek feel, especially during buying and selling negotiations, but you’ll usually see a good bit of mechanical work being done – among all
