RIGHT DIRECTION?

There has been much recent encouragement within your pages for game shots to use cartridges loaded with steel shot — soft iron — instead of lead. It has even been suggested that a “voluntary” ban on lead shot should be widely adopted.

It has already been shown that there is no danger to human health from eating game birds killed with lead shot. And that there is little or no evidence to suggest that lead shot — used in normal game shooting as is practised in this country — has a practical detrimental effect either on other wildlife or the wider environment.
