work alongside hen harriers all winter. They are some of the most common raptors on the hills and moors above my home in Galloway and it’s not unusual to see three or four hunting together around my cattle in the dull December twilight. In a year when voles are abundant, seven or eight birds will roost together in the bog below the house and it’s spooky to see
