It’s a chilly night in Paris and Sepultura are having an absolutely brilliant time. The Brazilian metal legends are playing a one-off gig at an intimate club venue, La Maroquinerie, ostensibly to mark the announcement of Hellfest’s 2020 line-up. In truth, Sepultura are most excited about their own plans for this year. As they tear into Isolation, the first song to be released from forthcoming album Quadra, all four members of the band are grinning from ear-to-ear. The audience goes berserk, causing frontman Derrick Green to take a step back in surprise. He grins even more broadly. The song ends. The mob goes wild.
“Aw man,” the vocalist sighs, almost to himself. “Merci beaucoup. Seriously.”
