Porsche is one of the best-known car manufacturers in the world, celebrated both for making excellent and useable supercars, and for persevering with a design featuring an engine in the ‘wrong’ place — hanging over the rear wheels. Not so much an issue when engines were small but it made for interesting drives in 911s once turbo power arrived. This challenge was conquered too, and many Porsche 911s are counted among the best-handling cars on the planet.
