Welcome!
Fellow grandparents will empathise (and have a chuckle) at one of the fabulous pics in this week’s Your Life! (Page 4). It shows sweetfame. Yvonne looks fabulous in her bright green skirt, velvet bodice, and flower crown. Nina, of course, is absolutely beaming as Anna’s big sister, Elsa! The pic reminded me of the time, years ago, when my mum dressed as a big pink bunny rabbit to surprise my nieces, Ruby and Ava, and nephew, Angus, at Easter. The kids have become used to their Nanna Sal doing crazy things to make them laugh and Ruby, especially, loved the surprise. I know lots of Aussie grandparents go over and above for their grandkids. Because, well, that’s what you do. Of course, parents do too. But usually, grandparents have a bit more time to indulge the little ones in their life. Although my husband, Simon, and I are still working full-time, and our grandkids are very little, we love taking the eldest, Harley, 3, on big days out. We don’t need to take him anywhere special or spend a lot of money, because Harley just loves travelling on public transport. He especially loves trains and the most exciting part about trains is that they go through tunnels! My parents have done the same with Angus, Ava and Ruby. In fact, just the other week, Angus, now 16, said his earliest memory was his days out (on public transport!) with Nanna Sal and Poppy Bob. I’d love to hear about the memories you’re making with your grandies!
