THE CANDLE

Hang on, hang on, isn’t this going a little further back than usual?

Well, what with Eskom blowing those fancy ‘lectrics out every other week, we thought it was time to travel tosomething. The humble candle dates back to 500BCE, at the very least, but it’s possible that bringing (portable) light to the darkness originated even sooner than that. The ancient Greeks definitely had candles and the invention could date back as far as ancient Egypt. Mankind has been avoiding the darkness an awfully long time.
