HOW LLEWELLIN BLAZED A TRAIL FOR WALES AND TOYOTA

Seeing a white and red Toyota driven to victory by a patriotic Welshman may be a sight fresh to a new breed of rally fan, but it’s not new. In fact, rewind the clock 30 years and you reach one of the most dominant periods of British Rally Championship history. But the Wales and Toyota link remained.

While Elfyn Evans has kicked off 2020 in fine form in the World Championship with a victory in Sweden and an impressive run in Monte Carlo, one of his trailblazers David Llewellin – ‘Dai’(Welsh for David) to his legion of followers – had taken Britain by storm three decades earlier.
