David Hockney’s Yosemite and Masters Of California Basketry

Highlighting how Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists have interpreted Yosemite in visual culture and fine art, this exhibit pairs influential British artist David Hockney with examples of 20th- and 21st-century Mono Lake Paiute and Miwok basketry. Included in the exhibit are works by basket weavers like Lucy Telles, Carrie Bethel, and Tina Charlie as well as Hockney’s iPad drawings and rarely shown photographic collages.
