HARPER’S BAZAAR: In Australia we have just experienced devastating bushfires on a scale never seen before. It’s a true ecological disaster. How do you think we can turn that pain into something positive?
GISELE BÜNDCHEN: “I feel every challenge we face brings us an opportunity to learn and grow. When ecological disasters of this magnitude happen we realise we could lose everything in a second and it makes us think about what is really important. It opens our hearts and it unites us. We get closer with our loved ones and with our communities. It’s when we see the human spirit in all its resilience, unity and love. These tragedies give us perspective and help us to prioritise what is most important in life. They also help us realise the fragility of our planet and the need for us to become more aware of the pressing concerns regarding our environment and the loss of human and animal life — which is tragic.
