Power Play

We all know the story. You’ve been on the water since dawn, fighting the wind for hours, and now finally you’ve located some active fish. And right on cue, just when you really need to hold the boat in place, your electric motor starts losing power. Or the downriggers slow to a crawl. Or your brand-new side-scan unit starts giving sketchy readings because it’s not getting the juice it needs.

The heart of any modern fishing boat is its power system because, to put it bluntly, without power nothing else works. Sonar, GPS, radar, radios, downriggers, electric motors, lights, baitwell pumps, temperature gauges – nothing. As we continue adding more and more high-tech goodies to our rigs, we are ever more reliant on a steady flow of power to make it all work.

Our ever-increasing demands for power put unprecedented demands on marine electrical systems. Although individual products may be increasingly energy efficient, we keep adding more and more of them onboard, and we always intend to run them all at once. So whether
