How to buy the best plants

EVEN those of us with no more space for planting will splash out on at least one new specimen every year and buying them has never been easier. You can find ones in supermarkets, DIY centres and even on petrol-station forecourts. These plants can be tempting, but to be sure of a well-grown specimen or something out of the ordinary, you need to visit a plant nursery, even if it means travelling further than the nearby supermarket.
