games come along so infrequently that in the hype-filled run-up to a new instalment, those of us with an interest in virtual village-building suddenly find ourselves in paroxysms over things like new curtains and miniature ladders. Heartfelt thanks to David Thair and friends, then, for having kept us sane in the days’ release. Each episode hones in on mundane things that make the series such a joy: ‘Pigeon Milk’, for instance, delves into the many mysteries of its world. From creatively written in-fiction ads to entertaining town tour segments, Thair performs and hosts it all with a dry wit and a rare calmness that perfectly evokes the spirit of the game. But it’s out now, so if you need us, we’ll be gibbering over our flowerbeds.
