THE NEW CLASS
The short-handed offshore scene continues to grow and has been further buoyed by its inclusion as an Olympic discipline in 2024. It’s also increasingly recognised that even amateur sailors in this field tend to be very skilled, while newcomers are more likely than those who race fully crewed boats to seek coaching to give them a rapid step upwards. This new model from Dehler, owned by parent company Hanse Yachts, recognises all these trends and adds an enticing one-design format.
CONCEPT 9/10
Judel/Vrolijk has drawn an arguably more conservative hull shape than some recent designs, with finer bow sections, for instance, than the Sun Fast 3300. Nevertheless, an almost full-length chine becomes harder towards the stern, resulting in significant flare above the waterline aft.
At 2.2m, the draught is certainly deep for a boat of this size, so the 940kg lead bulb at the end of the carbon-reinforced glass-fibre fin exerts considerable righting moment. This is augmented with 200 litres of water ballast each side. Overall beam of 3.25m
