HIT HOME Weston-super-Mare narrowly missed the opportunity to celebrate one the biggest anniversaries in the club’s history when losing 22-17 to South-West Premier leaders Barnstaple.

It was 40 years since Weston hosted London Welsh in the John Player Cup and held their star visitors to a 13-3 win. Five players who lined up for Weston that day watched the Barnstaple game, which brought the side’s first home defeat in 14 matches.
