Take a walk through the quiet residential streets of historic Cambridge, past immaculate small terraces of ochre brick, with only the sound of bicycles and church bells to accompany your footsteps. Eventually you’ll chance upon a delightful green square, fringed by lime trees and home to a remarkable garden. Delicate sophora trees, a stately magnolia and pleached hornbeams peep above its fences, while at eye level an ebullient Rosa ‘Sir Cedric Morris’ delights passers-by with glorious sprays of white summer flowers. This lovely scene is set against an elegant early Victorian house with French-style, pine-green shutters.
