KATHY HUANG

Businesswoman, Mother of two, 38 Pilates and Boxing

She’s unstoppable: a sports enthusiast, business woman, style icon, wife, and a mother—roles that Kathy juggles effortlessly.

Growing up in a family of basketball players, she took up the sport at age 10, and has never looked back. A former varsity athlete, she also enjoys other sports such as lacrosse, gymnastics, and martial arts.

Into Muay Thai for four years now, Kathy finds hitting pads and sparring great stress relievers. “For me, exercise has never really been about being in shape. Of course, that is a big benefit. But I value more the improvement of my overall mental health and happiness when I train,” she says.

On being healthy and keeping a positive mindset despite her busy schedule, Kathy still finds time to do different workouts throughout the week: Muay Thai at the Philippine Army gym, boxing at Flyweight, spinning at Electric, and a type of slow resistance training called Lagree. Working out is her “me time,” an hour of self-reflection.

As to the subject of diet, she says: “Life is too short to not enjoy the things that make you happy.”

She considers life as a juggling rather than a balancing act; and she is a family woman first and foremost, then a fitness maven. She’s also thankful for being able to work for her parents, allowing her to be more flexible with her time and perform her many roles.

Asked whether she sets herself any goals for a more active and healthy future, she says: “I have no set goals per se. I would just like to constantly improve in all aspects of my life.”
