Duncan Elementary School 104 Years of Continuous Educational Service

In 1912, the newly incorporated city of Duncan was in dire need of a new elementary school. Its first school, Alderlea (later called Duncan Public School), which had opened in 1891 as a one room wooden schoolhouse, to which a second classroom had been added in 1901, could no longer cope with the thirty-one percent increase in school enrollment. Land for the new school was purchased from Reverend David Holmes.
