SIEGFRIED LINKWITZ (1935–2018)

Siegfried Linkwitz, the co-inventor of the Linkwitz-Riley crossover, a favourite of loudspeaker manufacturers and DIY speaker builders the world over, has died, aged 82.

When asked about his many inventions over the years, Linkwitz would often invoke one of his favourite Ralph Waldo Emerson quotes: ‘We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.’
