WILSON BENESCH P3.0 NOW IN OZ
The three new models British loudspeaker manufacturer Wilson Benesch designed to commemorate its thirtieth birthday year in 2018 are now available in Australia. All three Precision Series models feature Wilson Benesch’s new ‘Leonardo’ silk-dome tweeter and ‘carbon fibre composite Fibonacci element’ faceplate—a combination that made its debut on the Eminence, Wilson Benesch’s flagship.
All three models also feature Wilson Benesch’s ‘Tactic II’ drivers, reportedly developed in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University. ‘The third generation Tactic II drivers used in the Precision Series builds upon time-proven materials science that Wilson Benesch brought to the market out of the government-supported Bishop Research project,’ said Boris Granovsky, of Absolute HiEnd, which distributes Wilson Benesch in Australia. ‘The isotactic polypropylene cone was collaboratively developed with Professor Ward FRS of Leeds University and sets the industry standard in terms of optimal stiffness and self-damping.’ The P3.0 ($29,000 per pair) uses three 170mm Tactic II drivers, one as a bass driver, one as a lower-midrange driver, and one as an upper midrange driver, with the Leonardo tweeter. It’s rated with a frequency response of 32Hz–24kHz ±2dB, a sensitivity of 89dBSPL and has a nominal impedance of 6 . The Wilson Benesch P2.0 ($18,990 per pair) uses two 170mm Tactic II drivers, one as a bass driver and the other as a midrange driver, with the Leonardo tweeter. The entry-level P1.0 ($11,990 per pair) is a two-way design with a single 170mm Tactic II driver and a Leonardo tweeter. All these prices are for the standard black finish, but added-cost premium finishes are also available.

AUDIOLAB 6000A AMPLIFIER
The Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier/DAC is now available in Australia. In addition to the onboard digital-to-analogue converter, the new 6000A has four digital inputs, three line-level analogue inputs, a phono input (moving-magnet), plus wireless connectivity via aptX Bluetooth. It’s distributed in Australia by Sydney-based distributor Audio Visual Revolution (AVR). The 6000A’s four S/PDIF digital inputs—two coaxial and two optical—link to an ESS9018 Sabre32 DAC that handles PCM data up to 24- bit/192kHz and has three user-selectable digital filters: ‘Fast Roll-Off’, ‘Slow Roll-Off’ and ‘Minimum Phase’.
Audiolab rates the power output of the 6000A’s Class-A/B output stage as 50-watts per channel into 8 , from an output stage’s discrete Class AB power amplifier stage delivers 50W per channel into 8 . The power supply is linear, using a 200VA toroidal transformer and four 15,000µF capacitors. The headphone output fitted’ said , of NAV. ‘’ Available now, the Audiolab 6000A sells for $1,399 (RRP).
