    Mercury in the family

    When Joseph Maceyko’s 1972 Mercury Marquis Brougham coupe was an everyday car, it regularly played a special role for his coworkers.

    “My dad worked for Haddon Craftsmen in Scranton,” said Jason Maceyko of Dickson City, Pa. “(For) everybody who got married, he and his buddy, Rich, used to get their cars ready. Rich had a Lincoln and he had this. ‘Can you come and be in our wedding, the lead cars?’ Every Saturday, he was going to a wedding. ‘Good times and drinks,’ that’s what he always used to tell me.”

    Even in its two-door form, the Mercury was an excellent choice when it came to transporting the bride or any other member of the wedding party in comfort and style. It clearly had the size to ensure a gown-wearing passenger easy access to the rear seat and no less importantly, the Marquis had a presence. To
