Good Girl and Gullies

A prior series of articles described my near half-century of experiences hunting upland game birds with German wirehaired pointers. They are certainly not the most common breed in the field, and you would be hard pressed to come upon many in Hawai‘i. The question, “What kind of dog is that?” follows me wherever I go. All I can say is that they work for me. More common local bird hunting breeds include the Brittany, English pointer and German shorthaired pointer. This is a story of a German shorthaired pointer.
