The name Chinese Six applies in the main with rigid lorries and such an arrangement on a tractor was generally known as a twin steer. The origins of the term are not set in stone but the best explanation I’ve seen is that Chinese writing in its earlier form was written from right to left. Therefore, having two axles on the front instead of the rear of the lorry reflected this as it looked back to front.
