Venture back with me to my early days in Southern Ohio.

I have a homemade packbasket on my back with a handful of what few traps I own inside of it. My new home is within the confines of the Shawnee State Forest, a 64,000-acre tract near the Ohio River. More specifically, I am surrounded on three sides by a designated “wilderness” area in which no logging or other commercial use can take place.
