AUDI A3 FROM $35,900

Audi’s current A3 range, like its predecessors, shares its architecture and most of its componentry with parent brand Volkswagen’s Golf.

Prices for the five-door A3 Sportback start at $35,900 for the 92kW 1.4-litre turbopetrol/sevenspeed automated twin-clutch manual S-Tronic.

The same engine, with 110kW and cylinder-on-demand technology (COD), which automatically shuts down two cylinders under light loads to save fuel, is $38,500.
