Driving with Baby
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seven children are killed every day and another 872 injured in motor-vehicle collisions across the United States. The statistics in our country are no less gory. According to a 2008 report on Accident Deaths and Suicides in India by the National Crime Records Bureau, 1,18,239 road accident deaths occurred in the year 2008. 324 deaths and 1,285 injuries per day occur due to road accidents, which amount to 14 road accident deaths per hour. The high frequency of road accidents the world over can be pretty unnerving, especially when you have little ones at home who need to be driven to their school or activity class regularly. We can’t change others, but as parents we can definitely become more aware and practise some very important safety measures. Read ahead to learn more about the dangers lurking in and around a car, and how our kids could be at a risk.
