ELECTRIC CARS, THEY SAY, ARE THE future and I have driven a few of them. Some popular international models and a few home-grown ones too. But what I am driving now is very different. Calling it special won’t be wrong either.

This is the Hyundai Kona. An all-electric SUV that completely shatters the image of sport utility vehicles (SUV) which are often branded by Green revolutionaries as being bulky, inefficient, carbon-chugging machines. The Kona SUV has zero tailpipe emission and is as clean as electric vehicles can be.

The reason I’m driving and writing about it is because the e-crossover is being launched in India this month (July 2019). Hyundai are planning to assemble the EV and the battery pack in India and the Kona is expected to carry a price tag
