Desert Raid

CONSIDERED THE TOUGHEST RACE IN THE WORLD, THIS YEAR’S DAKAR Rally was held in Saudi Arabia, bringing with it new terrain and new challenges. Competitors faced extreme temperatures and unending deserts as they covered over 7,500 kilometres in 14 days of racing.

The ceremonial flag-off was held in the city of Jeddah and from there competitors headed north along the desert nation’s west coast to the city of Al Wajh. Day one saw them cover a distance of 752 kilometres, including a gruelling 319-kilometre special stage.
