SLOWING SHUTTER SPEEDS

While selecting the wrong shutter speed can ruin an image, intentional variation of shutter speeds can produce some really great photographs with some additional very cool effects. There is a time and place for fast shutter speeds and also specific situations where slower speeds will yield better results or a desired effect.

A few years ago I built a homemade floating camouflage blind for photographing birds on lakes and ponds. It was (I say 'was' because I am now on prototype number three) basically a rectangle framework of five-inch PVC piping sealed at the joins so it would float.
