CHOOSING THE RV LIFESTYLE
It all started 18 months ago when my lovely wife Nic casually suggested we should go and look at some imported UK caravans, making me wonder if she might have some gypsy ancestry I wasn’t aware of.
We live in Albany and there’s a caravan importer over in Cowley Place, so off we went for a look. I was really surprised at how far modern caravans have come. The interior fixtures and fittings, along with wheel movers, etc. were quite an eye opener.
We looked at the pros and cons, but the thought of towing one around the highways and byways of New Zealand didn’t really appeal to me. Nothing against caravans – it’s just not my thing. For five years I towed a race car around the country and found it a bit tedious. I like driving though and will drive anything, so we decided to look at the motorhome/van option instead.
