Local businesses which have been struggling in the mountains can now have their views listen too. Council is hearing the views of Blue Mountains businesses at a quarterly Mayoral Reference Group meeting.

Many local businesses have been struggling in what they believe is due to be obstacles placed by local Council.

Now the Council is trying to make amend by holding a meeting in a bid to be seen to as proactive.

So far the topics such as a Council’s business survey and free training for businesses has been covered.

The next local meeting is scheduled for 12 September.

STATE FUNDING LIFT

Blue Mountains Libraries will benefit from a boost in funding, thanks to a State Government pledge to public libraries across the state.

A record $36.5 million in funding has been allocated to NSW public libraries in 2019/20. Funding to Blue Mountains Libraries in 2019/20 is $250,399, which is up from $193,016 in 2018/19.

The Blue Mountains Libraries had more than 450,400 visitors in 2018/19.

There were over 540,000 total loans for the year and over 23,500 hours spent on library computers.
