HOW MUCH?

The 3.0-litre V6 turbodieselpowered Macan S is $91,900, the 3.0-litre V6 turbo petrol version is $93,100, the GTS is $109,500 and the range-topping Turbo is $130,300. Porsche’s exceptionally slick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is standard.

The Macan is more expensive than Audi’s Q5, BMW’s X3, Jaguar’s F Pace, Mercedes’ GLC or the Range Rover Evoque. But even a cursory glance at its specs suggests that Porsche offers segment-leading performance, standard equipment and (generally pricey) option choices.

NUTS AND BOLTS

• It is longer, wider and lower than both Audi Q5 and BMW X3.

• The 3.0-litre
