Derek Jeter card wows

LEADING OFF… DEREK JETER — Make no mistake: There are plenty of deals to be had in online auctions. But in this space, we tend to focus on eye-opening online auction results. And one just-completed auction has left our eyes open doubly wide. A total of 88 bids sent the price of a rare Derek Jeter card to a final price of—hold on to your hat—$202,102. The card? A rare Mirror Gold variation of Jeter’s 1996 Pinnacle Select rookie.

The card, which features high gloss and a foil underlay, was boosted mightily by its PSA 10 grade. Only one other Mirror Gold Jeter has received the coveted assessment of 10/Gem Mint within PSA’s Population Report.
