Also Bitten by the Bug

The militaria collecting bug can strike anyone — and dealers are not immune. After all, military antiques dealers come in contact with fantastic historic collectibles all the time, so it’s only natural that, at some point, a collection will start up (or an existing collection will grow). Here are three cases in point: These dealers, also avid collectors, talk about their area of interest and some of the favorite finds that wound up on display shelves in their homes rather than being offered for sale.

BRUCE HERMANN: DEALER IN WWI, WWII, CIVIL WAR & EARLIER

Bruce Hermann is the co-owner of grenadierauctions.com, an international online auction house which specializes in the sale of fine original military antiques. “Our auction house deals in militaria from all major nations, specializing in German and American, primarily from the end of WWII and back through the Civil War,” he says.

Bruce’s collecting, however, is focused strictly on the Civil War-era.
