Many Roads Travelled

During a January 24, 2008, police raid in a small Texas town a few miles northwest of San Antonio, a number of items were seized. Among them were a nickel-plated Model M1911 .45 caliber pistol and its 7-round magazine. A check by Texas authorities on the serial number —231920 — led them to a Department of Defense data base that contains information pertaining to military-procured weapons and the original unit to which they were issued. This research showed the pistol to have been originally issued to the Virginia National Guard’s 116th Infantry Regiment.
