WORKING THE WIND
Whether you are new to the sport or a seasoned veteran, the one thing that trips more archers up then anything is shooting in windy conditions. To this day, I still remember my first Texas Shootout event (Spring of 2013). It was my second ever outdoor tournament, yet years later, it is still one of the windiest tournaments I’ve ever shot in. Having just shelled out close to $700 for a set of Easton X10 ProTour arrows with tungsten points, I was terrified of missing the bale and losing or breaking my brand-new arrows. I was on target A (top left of the bale) and the wind was running right to left. Out of 144 arrows, I ended up with about eight misses because I kept shooting the B target due to being so afraid the wind would blow my arrows off the bale to the left! I had never experienced wind like this, and my fears came from having to shoot in the unknown.
That same year there was a World Championships held in Belek, in Turkey. The wind was so intense at that tournament that
