Start of the season

stalked at Hall Farm on Saturday 4 April 2015. A late left game cover made an obvious place to start and so I walked in before first light. There is nothing much more desolate than a bombed out maize block… I selected a spot on the edge of the cover with care, as the adjoining bank was obviously tenanted by rats. With footpaths in the vicinity I only had one viable place to sit, from which I could shoot with a background of rising ground.
